Les Villages 1993

On the initiative of Jean-Claude Maugirard, then managing director of Via, in conjunction with Industries Françaises de l'Ameublement, Via Presse, the newsletter for professionals involved in contemporary furniture design, edited by Christine Colin, became Les Villages. The title referred to the creation of a 'Publishers' Village' at the Paris Furniture Salon. With this series title, Jean-Claude Maugirard wanted to draw attention to the 'human relationships' that the village epitomises: 'nobody is responsible for building a town except time, and the many craftsmen who first built it then the people who live there afterwards'.
