Object-types and archetypes 1997

Objets-types et archétypes questions the emergence of the notion of the archetype in design in the nineties. Universal models are once again being sought, no longer rooted in the logic of production as in the case of standardisation but in that of imagery and communication. Where previously standardisation provided a beautiful, quality product for all, thanks to the rationalisation of the production process, the archetype gives us an image of an object that is readable and understandable by all, while communication has now become an integral part of the production process.
